The cheeses are hand-crafted using traditional techniques and Waimata Cheese Company is proud to be approved by the New Zealand Vegetarian Society to carry their trademark for all their cheeses due to the use of a vegetable-based coagulant rather than traditional calf rennet.
.
Waimata Cheese Company boasts numerous awards for their traditional cheeses as well as their unique products, the Taepo and Manuka Bries and believes that their cheese reflects the passion they feel for the fine art of cheese making.

The Kiwi Juice Company is a new processing company, established in Gisborne in 2014.
.
"We recognise the huge opportunity created by the abundance of fruit produced here in Gisborne. Many people are unaware of the diversity of fruit that is grown and exported from this region plus that it is harvested almost year round. What is well known is that Gisborne fruit, due to our climate and fertile soils, has the best flavours.
Our goal is to create healthy juices, from the surplus fruits, that have no preservatives, no concentrates and no added sugars. We are drawing on the winemaking and processing experience of our team and have constructed a food grade premise at the winery dedicated to producing high quality juices and purees".
.
The Kiwi Juice Company's first release 'First Press' is a grape juice that is quite simply pure grape juice in a convenient recyclable bottle. They recognise that many people, when drinking sociably, want a non-alcoholic drink ... First Press offers them this choice served as it is, nicely chilled, or as a mixer with soda or tonic.

Manurau Gourmet Game Bird producers is located 40min's south of Gisborne city and is owned and operated by bird enthusiasts Rodney and Joyce.

Rodney and Joyce started out looking for quality game birds and eggs to enjoy with their family because many of their tantalising recipes rely on the use of game birds, and with restaurants and chefs recognising the extraordinary cuisine these birds provide they thought there must be someone supplying birds – apparently not!

So, after many years farming and working in Hawke's Bay, they set off on a journey around the North Island in search of birds, incubator supplies and information. They had a goal - to turn their interest in birds into a thriving business opportunity.

From that journey, and initial purchase of ten quail, Manurau was born. After spending years sourcing the best quality birds and understanding their needs, Manurau has developed into a full production enterprise selling quality game birds and educating its customers on their use.

Rodney and Joyce's love of birds is evident in everything they do. They have a natural ability to understand how they live and the signs they exhibit when they are content. Manurau is always looking for ways to keep its birds happy and maintain their quality of life. After all, happy birds mean sustainable farming and better quality product.

Manurau's philosophy is to run the birds in as natural environment as possible – it is not only important to Manurau, it is important to its customers! There are no battery cages here – eggs are picked up from wherever the birds lay them. They enjoy five acres of pasture and grassland with plenty of fresh water and space.

Manurau has spent years researching and understanding production cycles and employs eco-farming principals to guarantee year-round supply of gourmet game bird products for a growing number of loyal customers.
